GARY A. GITTUS
Gary grew up in Rochester and graduated
from Mayo High School in 1978. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1982 with a major in political science
and a minor in business administration. While in college he was a member of a social fraternity and an honor fraternity.
He graduated from Hamline University School of Law in 1986. He belongs to a number of professional legal organizations
including the Minnesota Bar Association and Olmsted County Bar Association. He has represented clients throughout Minnesota
in both State and Federal Court.
Gary has served as President of the Olmsted
County Bar Association and has been on the Board of Directors of numerous local organizations including the American Red Cross
and the Justice and Social System Volunteer Program Steering Committee. In addition he has worked for the St. Paul City
Attorney’s Office and was a prosecutor for nearly ten years in the Rochester City Attorney’s Office and Olmsted
County Attorney's Office. He has a wealth of jury trial experience and has appeared in the Minnesota Court of Appeals
and Minnesota Supreme Court more than a dozen times. He recently won a landmark Supreme Court decision in State v. Henning,
where the court struck down as unconstitutional a law allowing law enforcement officers to stop motorists without reasonable
articulable suspicion.
His past experience as a prosecutor uniquely
qualifies him to represent clients in criminal offenses throughout Minnesota.
